Marc,
I would kindly ask you to reconsider. US government is arguably not
the best in the world but it is comfortably within the best 25% of all
countries. And I can tell that from my own experience living in
different countries (East Europe, West Europe, US...) and traveling
quite extensively. Pretty much everything in life is a compromise.
Please, do not let a minor hassle of an airport security spoil an
opportunity to hang out with great and like-minded people. As a Swiss
national you really has nothing to fear. The likelihood of your laptop
being search/impounded/confiscated is next to nil.
