One thing thing that has always puzzled me is that Lua doesn't really include any optional "standard" libraries. Yes, I know *technically* they're all pretty much optional, but I don't see that including more rounded OS functions for the major platforms hurts Lua - if the user doesn't want them, then they simply don't build them in.

Oh well, not mine to reason why :)
