Hi Jeff,

I think that there could be some space for a user-installable, supported 
version of Lua under Windows (similar to ActivePerl), more so if 
additional libraries could be easily installed by a normal user.

The latter point could even benefit programmers who have no wish to 
recompile things under Windows and wrestle with DLLs et similia.

Some of the above could probably apply to OS X. I see less benefits 
under Linux, though.
