You're right that if you're using it as a media center you're best off
reading media from an attached portable hard drive or over the
network. I don't really see how that demonstrates a weakness of the
device. Native SATA might be nice for other reasons, but I think home
media center is a poor example because there USB is plenty fast
enough.

As someone who's been working with the Raspberry Pi project, I think
blunders are relatively few and far between. It would be nice if there
was a 100% problem free route from circuit design to mass manufacture,
but I think that's asking rather a lot.
