Most english speakers won't know what "offal" is anyway, I didn't! (me being in that majority and English is my first language).Perhaps a "Get Started" section in the readme would be useful. What about feedback for the project? it is hosted in gitorious so you can start playing with it, reporting bugs and suggesting improvements (a plus). I love to review patches and merge requests :)

Indeed, I think there is no reason to change the name. I don't
pronounce it like 'awful' anyway, I pronounce it much closer to 'Opal'
with a 'ph' instead 'p'.
