There is a big problem with the US about visas, independently of
political/philosophical/ethical points of view. In many countries
(Brazil included), it is not easy nowadays to get a visa to the US.
Many events in the US are having problems with this. (E.g., ACM says
that "International registrants should be particularly aware and careful
about visa requirements, and should plan travel well in advance.")
