I prefer not trusting my immediate memory (or instinct), and being able to compare things visually all at once on the same screen. We've all frequently found nasty bugs that were caused by mismatched contents that were edited separately (such as forgetting a repeated item in an horizontal list)...

To each one their way of working :-)
