Dependency injection and monkey patching are not the same thing for me.

I think that he's referring to DI being "A 25-dollar term for a 5 cents concept"( http://www.jamesshore.com/Blog/Dependency-Injection-Demystified.html ).

The name "monkeypatching" was initially coined with a pejorative meaning. It still sounds pejorative: "something monkeys do". It's the opposite case of "Dependency Injection".

He basically means that marketing works in programming, too. But maybe I'm reading too much on it :)
