Actually I am already making use of cocos2d-x for the engine. What I want is to expose a subset of my C++ existing API into Lua, the faster (to expose, not to run, thought nice also), the better.

Have you had a look at Love2D? Lua scripts, works on Android, don't know
about iOS.
