Yes, getting visas will be an issue, and Workshop attendees from
countries that Russia requires to have visas to enter, should expect
to spend some time and effort getting them. Unfortunately.

I'll do what I can to ease this on my side — and at least hope to be
able to give good advice, consulting with friends who have experience
with inviting foreign speakers here.

Other potential issue is that airplane ticket prices and hotels rates.
Nothing can be done with tickets, I'm afraid (except that one should
buy them early, as usual), but there are nice and relatively
inexpensive hostels available for economical-minded people.
