The strongest stock i've ever seen are from prehistoric "select
cards" (i don't know their proper name). An analogical computer by
themselves. They have two rows of holes all around, and you were
supposed to catalog the content cutting out from the apropriate hole(s)
to the border. Then you'll pass a long pin trough the aligned holes of a
stack, and pull: only cards with uncut holes would be drawn. 

I will the number of holes per side and use THAT as column count.
