We really should be looking at Pandoc, which is a sort of markdown++.
It already has a “literate Haskell” feature. I'm not thinking so
much of trying to add a “literate Lua” feature (Pandoc is written in
Haskell, which I find daunting) as staying compatible with Pandoc's
extensions to markdown.
