I too would be interested in hearing about this; I only saw the now-deprecated page that was quoted here (http://code.google.com/p/android-scripting/wiki/LuaAndroidAPI).
As for the development environment, I don't think there is anything un-fixable there, it just gives a 'pre-alpha' impression (and that's the latest version). Should Google put a real effort behind it, they could end up with something, maybe not lightingly fast, but probably usable.
