Sure, I'm interested! BTW, the reason I suggested "plex" and not "simplex" is for the very reason you state: "Plex" is an abstract word fragment that gives a hint that the app is related to linear programming but, at the same time, since it is not "simplex" it does not lock you down to what the app does.

Thanks! You know, I'd completely forgotten to think of simplex at all, or objective for that matter.

I should add that I'm being encouraged away from "linear programming" and towards "math programming" because the system won't be restricted to solving LPs with the simplex method.

Since you obviously know a bit about LP, do you have any interest in such a library? I've asked if others are interested on the list before, but the response was fairly muted.

Cheers,
Geoff

How about using a term from LP, like "simplex". making it LuaPlex, or something like that?

Subject: Project Name?

Hi,

please excuse me if this is a bit off-topic, but I need a name for a project, and I wondered if the list could help.

I'm writing a binding to math programming libraries, and a math modeling system to build math programming problems. At the moment I just call it LuaLP (for Lua ?Linear Programming), but I don't really think it's good enough.

Following tradition, an ideal name would be:
- moon related
- Portuguese
- have a connection to math or math programming (phrases such as "optimisation", "linear programming", "math programming", "operations research", "the science of better")

The best I've done so far is "apollo", which is moon-related, not really Portuguese, and its only connection with linear programming is that it has l's and p's in it.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Geoff
