Thanks!  You know, I'd completely forgotten to think of simplex at  
all, or objective for that matter.

I should add that I'm being encouraged away from "linear programming"  
and towards "math programming" because the system won't be restricted  
to solving LPs with the simplex method.

Since you obviously know a bit about LP, do you have any interest in  
such a library?  I've asked if others are interested on the list  
before, but the response was fairly muted.
