What a weird behavior!   :-(
I developed kurmidlg on Win2k (tested on XP also).
I spent last two years without fighting against a Win98Saurus...  ;-)
After installing a fresh Win98SE under VMware I can see the mess you are 
talking about.
First I thought about ComCtl32 versions... but no: 5.80 is new enough.
Now I'm checking WORD and DWORD alignment when I build dynamic control 
templates.
I'm open to any idea about this matter.
