[LuaCOM] server as dll

my first post to the list!

i hope this is the best forum to ask this: there
doesn't seem to be a LuaCOM list.

i note in the "Limitations" section of the LuaCOM
manual:
  "the implementation of DLL server via LuaCOM isn't
supported; this may be implemented in the next
release"

what are the issues that prevent compiling to dll? 
can i call a few windows functions before/after dll
attaches to fix the problem, or is it fundamental,
needing many changes to LuaCOM?

i am very happy to contribute to LuaCOM, but it would
be good to have some sort of an idea of the problem
before i dive right in.
