Just a couple of observations: it crashes my app due to a C stack

Right, it was indeed my mistake (I was relying on a rawtostring patch
in my 5.0 branch that I'm not applying to 5.1).
So now, my apps which do quite a lot of fairly gnarly lua stuff
(including a high reliance on destructor tricks) do indeed seem
to work exactly as expected, which I wasn't expecting. :)
In terms of speed, 5.1work0 seems slightly slower than 5.0
(about 2-3% in my apps). Regrettably my apps' framerate is
currently too low for me to notice the incremental collector
benefits, but I imagine I'll be very thankful for them soon. :)
