Lua would not control the appliance, it would be employed in the test program 
used by maintenance people and designed on the basis of existing similar 
programs controlling current models. What I plan to move from C++ to Lua are 
mid-level operations to get/set meaningful data from the onboard control 
card, i.e. the interface between C++ user-requested actions and C++ low-level 
communication functions.

Anyway, I've yet to design it :-)
