Well I guess I would rather see it outlawed completely. My opinion is fair and impartial, because I did never use upvalues with Lua 4.0 ;-) Seriously, I think removing the old upvalue syntax cleans the accepted language little, and the current state might cause porting problems. I would rather get syntax error, instead of slight behaviour change. Eero
