Fwd: Locked out of LuaRocks ecosystem

Hi all,

For many months now I've been unable to use LuaRocks - downloading simply fails:

$ luarocks download i18n
Warning: Failed searching manifest: Failed downloading https://luarocks.org - Failed downloading https://luarocks.org/manifest-5.1 - /home/vadi/.cache/luarocks/https___luarocks.org/manifest-5.1

I have no issues with my internet connectivity whatsoever and I'm able to download the files by hand just fine (see: https://github.com/luarocks/luarocks/issues/1188).

The widespread adoption of LuaRocks is making things a bit difficult now that it's not working. Has anyone else ran into this and would have a suggestion to try?
