prefixexp ::= var | functioncall | ‘(’ exp ‘)’

functioncall ::=  prefixexp args | prefixexp ‘:’ Name args

Since '5' is neither a variable nor a function call, it needs parentheses.

You may try my Lua patch, it makes this work.
