Thank you for that link. I will try removing the automatic coercion in
my program Hydra[1] and will report back with results. It's a
greenfield project with no external dependencies besides Lua 5.2 and
whatever the user chooses to add to their config from Elsewhere; so
the results should be interpreted in that light.
