A way to draw a lesson from Laurie's law would be to twist it a bit:

"Debate an issue hotly and you will be assured that the developers will
never implement it."

Yes, I think that was the main problem of this thread. If you propose a change to Lua you *will* get negative posts: the Lua devs and as a consequence most of the Lua community is very careful about featuritis and code bloat. You have to be smart and *very* calm to get anywhere ...
