Now theres a method to use gcc to build for mbed, using the mbed 
libraries (gcc4mbed project @ github). There are even instructions on 
how to integrate with Eclipse, with debugging trough the serial. Pain is 
inflicted on the user, but at least it's only while you try to get the 
toolchain setup, not every time you press the compile button as with the 
official web IDE.
