Two things have been so inconvenient to me that I have improved them
in my own copy. By definition, those count as bugs.

- Specifying a non-string, in particular 'nil', as the help string
  for a topic is no longer legal, since I found that I only did that
  by mistake.
- Instead, a non-string second argument now means: return the help
  string instead of printing it.
