This, and the other recently posted link about userspace ethernet
drivers [1] reminds me of Massalin's Synthesis operating system [2,3] --
a system where OS components are aggregated and jit-compiled on the fly.
Massalin's PhD thesis is a fascinating read.
An entire operating system kernel written in Lua would be pretty cool.
