Yes, I looked at all copies of luasocket on github for one I could clone from.

The first commit in luadist's tree is not a luasocket release, its
already been modified to include dist.cmake, and possibly other mods.
Its impossible to know without diffing.

I wanted a repo where there is no question about what Diego's original
source was, and what changes have been made.
