A documentation suggestion:

  int luaL_newlibtable (lua_State *L, const luaL_Reg *l);

  It is implemented as a macro. The array l must be the actual array, not
  a pointer to it.

It would be better to write the prototype as below to emphasize this fact.

  int luaL_newlibtable (lua_State *L, const luaL_Reg l[]);
