That's rather more explicit even than a smiley.

and in my whine about it, I said

And now you omit that line from your response and vaguely accuse me of omitting a smiley

It's not culturally dependent to identify that a joke was intended when that's explicitly stated!

Paul (perhaps being a bit oversensitive tonight, but apparently deliberate omissions of key statements in responses do tend to annoy me).
