Well, according to Lua's version history [1], there was about 3 years between 4.0 (2000) and 5.0 (2003). Then about 3 years again between 5.0 and 5.1 (2006). 5.2 is about to be release sometime soon, so lets say 4 years after 5.1.
So I reckon we have about 3-4 years to go before 5.3. Nothing to loose sleep over :)
