I actually expected to get a similar request for Vim. 8-)

I'm mostly an Emacs user myself.  Ten years ago, I did some Emacs Lisp
programming, and I knew that js2-mode offered something similar, so I
knew that it was actually possible.  I don't know anything about SciTE
or Vim internals.  I plan to use the Emacs mode for a while, and then
see if the whole thing is useful.  Perhaps I'll end up porting it to
some other editor.
