Thanks so much for your detailed email. I followed your instructions but 
did not find anything suspicious yet. However I also switched to 
/usr/lib/lua/5.1 and require works fine here so it is just some sort of 
linking issue. I am sure I will figure it out or perhaps just make a 
symbolic link as a work around.
