Not to mention in order to use any low level compiled language effectively you're going to need to learn how they work. It's just an entirely different kettle of fish.

FWIW, though, pretty much anywhere you can run ANSI C, you can run Lua. And the C-to-Lua interface is the easiest I've ever seen.--
