Only if it gets accepted as a GSoC project. Project submittal hasn't
begun yet but will soon (March 8th). The website hasn't been updated
yet but you should see more news soon. (The intent of this thread is
to give potential students an earlier opportunity to get familiar with
projects likely to be accepted that (could) use Lua.)
