- Subject: Lua For Windows on Windows XP x64 Edition

Hello,
Lua For Windows doesn't seem to work on 64-bit Windows XP.
Running lua.exe brings up the error message "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem".
I have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the MS Visual C++ (2005) Redistributable installed. I don't have problems running other 32-bit applications.
Copying x64 versions of the binaries over the top of the installed binaries fixes the problem to some extent. I can run lua.exe, but then I get an error if I try to load one of the third-party libraries that comes with Lua For Windows, e.g.
require 'bit'
gives the error
error loading module 'bit' from file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Lua\5.1\clibs\bit.dll':
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.
So it looks like I need 64-bit versions of all of the third-party DLL's aswell :(
Does anyone know why Lua For Windows is behaving differently from the other 32-bit applications on my machine?
Thanks,
Richard Batty.
