In terms of diffs between the vanilla 0.9 GPL and BSD tarballs: the only
source changes are the replacement of the GPL boilerplate comments with
BSD boilerplate comments in every C file in which the licence boilerplate
appears.
So in object-file terms they should compile identically. This means
that merging your patched version of the 0.9 code with the "official"
0.9 release should be trivial (read: can be automated).
