Experiences with lunatic python?

Has anyone ever used lunatic python (http://labix.org/lunatic-python) ?

I think that lua is a much better language than python (better syntax
and semantics,
more convenient to embed, stellar C api) but there are times that I
really could use
some python libraries.

I searched the list archives, but didn't find any recent mention of
lunatic python.  Care to share
any thoughts / experiences?
