I think its a good idea to have at least a few lines describing what a
project does in these kind of announcements. It could be SDL is what
I've always needed for my next project, but since I don't know what it
is, its hard to tell, and googling around takes precious time.

It's just my policy, I hate to pollute lists. I will update the wiki, etc. soon, plus put up a website.

I think looking at the wiki, then LuaForge, takes care of most cases. If people are serious about a project, then it ought to be listed in the wiki... And googling is still the fastest way to get usable URLs, I gave up keeping links long ago. I don't see how you can improve significantly on googling. :-)

Its easy to forget when you've announced something a few times that
some people might not remember the previous one, where you explained
what the projects is for.

Perhaps for very significant updates, I try not to pollute lists.
