Thanks for your feedback & ideas, I am still trying to assimilate it all.
Don, in particular, the stuff you passed me looks really useful.

If anyone out there has other idea, or patches for the SWIG-Lua bindings, please let me know & I will add them in.

Once I have gone through all this stuff I will let you all know.
