Our team created entirely Lua based complex standalone multimedia(GUI, videos, music, timeshift TV/Radio, ...)/DB (60 tables over mysql|pgres|sqlite)/Internet application and hasn't memory problems after running a month, although 7-8 background services runs simultanously in the same Lua process.
