I think the fact that the book reviewers didn't pinpoint such a 
..well.. schoolbook issue, is simply they didn't realize it!   A good 
novel, even factual book can carry one past such issues, since they're 
irrelevant.

Then again, a bad book will be bad, errors or not. :)
