GA's or NN's for Lua?

Is anyone aware of any genetic algorithm or neural network libraries
that have been written _in Lua_?

I tutor a couple individuals, and when trying to explain GA and NN
concepts, they sometimes get bogged down in C++ syntax.  I am hoping to
find code that have has a much more presentable syntax such as Lua.
