- Subject: tolua or not-tolua? RE: FW: P.s. SDL for LuaMax

I've sent my beta Lua/SDL (using GluaX & lua-style interfacing) to Thatcher
for comments but haven't heard anything from him since. The code's pretty
much there and e.g. Thatcher's (remarkable!) MeteorShower runs on it. I
predict my solution to be faster but haven't checked this. Ease of usage is
probably most important there anyways.
I'll be able to get that polished in a few weeks if there is 'market' for
it...
The point with 'Full Moon edition' is to enlarge the Lua community & show
the best features of the language. It won't happen if all the APIs are
C-alikes, I'm afraid. Lua will be regarded as
just-another-scripting-language.

I do agree with you about tolua based bindings being 'rough'.
But considering that Thatcher Ulrich (who is a very good C-Programmer I
assume) has do this, I guess it's enough for him to simply be able to
use SDL from Lua.
The same problem arises with most GUI bindings I've seen. wxLua, LuaFLTK
etc. are all done in a similar way (wxLua at least tries to do a few
things more Lua-like)
Myself not being a real good C/C++ programmer, I have little choice in
this, sadly.
