- Subject: Announce: GNU autoconf-based build for Lua

Hi, this may be of interest:
I have converted the current beta version of Lua (4.1)
to use the GNU autoconf/automake style build system.
With this you can build Lua with the familiar
./configure; make; make install command sequences.
While this may not be necessary, it makes Lua
installation more convenient for the user.
The additions against the current beta is available as
a patch at
http://www.atai.org/lua/lua_autoconf_patch.gz
One issue is when using this system the files named
"Makefile" are overwritten. So it is recommended not
to build inside the source directory but in an
external directory so the Makefiles from the current
distribution are preserved,
Andy Tai
