While this is obviously true, it seems a little over-cautious to apply it
to a function which returns a member of a constant enumeration (and with
no obvious reason for that to change).
Things always can (and do, with each new release) break. There's a certain
amount one can do to minimise disruption, but it can become pathological,
as in this case.
