www.eGroups.com, which hosts the lua mailing list archive on the web, will be
adding an nntp server service to allow browsing list archives via nntp clients.
So if you're willing to wait, you'll be able to use your favorite nntp client
while allowing the people who prefer email to continue using the mailing list
and keeping the list free of the spam that plagues usenet.
