What happens when you key '~' followed by a space, or followed by an '='
sign, or even followed by another '~'? Do you get an error? I understand ~a,
~n etc will be translated to 'ã' and 'ñ' etc, just as it does with most
Portuguese enabled systems. But there is usualy an easier way to generate a
standard symbol like '~'. It also happens with the " and ' keys, which when
followed by 'u', for instance, become 'ü' and 'ú'.
What platform are your users using? Maybe it's just a matter of adjusting
the keyboard configuration so that it produces the correct codes.
