Hi,

given the origin of Lua's name, I think it is OK to celebrate Lunar New
Year, commonly called Chinese New Year...

To be precise, it starts the day when second new moon occurs after
winter solstice (northern hemisphere), which was February 11, 19:08 UTC.
As this calendar is traditionally used in east Asia, where it translates
to February 12 local time, I think we are OK :)

Regards,
Milan
