I incorporated Lua 5.4 into our software, which is a large code base for point of sales applications and online systems, and it was quite smooth.

So far no regression or whatsoever.

Looking forward to sprinkle some <const> and <toclose> in our Lua code, and some __close metamethods in our Lua modules ;)
